How are floral waters made and for what purpose?

A floral water or also called hydrolats, hydrosol or aquaromes, are extracts of aromatic plants obtained by distillation.

A floral water is therefore a liquid loaded with soluble aromas and active water-soluble aromatic mineral elements present in the distilled plant. This product is entirely natural.

How to use floral waters ?

Floral waters are made in the same way as essential oils, by distillation. Using our stills, we create quality floral waters. To proceed, we start by boiling water in the still's hearth using a boiler to obtain steam. This same steam moves directly into the body of the still where the plant part we want to transform is located. Moving through the plant, the steam will recover the aromatic essence of the plant. These precious molecules then reach the upper part of the alembic. The mixture of steam and aromatic essence will pass through a coil bathed in a cold water bath, which allows the mixture to become liquid again when cooling. At the end of this passage, this liquid will flow into a settling tank. It is at this last stage that we can dissociate the essential oil from the floral water and that we can recover both substances.
